Wawer is a large residential district known for its laid-back feel and many green spaces, popular for hiking, biking, and mushroom foraging. These include Mazowiecki Landscape Park, a sprawling area of meadows and old-growth forest sheltering elk and rich birdlife, and Jezioro Torfy, a wetlands area surrounded by woodland. Laid-back pubs and casual international restaurants cluster on and around Patriotów Street.
