Wawer
Wawer is a large residential district known for its laid-back feel and many green spaces, popular for hiking, biking, and mushroom foraging. These include Mazowiecki Landscape Park, a sprawling area of meadows and old-growth forest sheltering elk and rich birdlife, and Jezioro Torfy, a wetlands area surrounded by woodland. Laid-back pubs and casual international restaurants cluster on and around Patriotów Street.
The Wawer massacre refers to the execution of 107 Polish civilians on the night of 26 to 27 December 1939 by the German occupiers of Wawer Poland.
